“You Must Talk About These Things,But . . .You Can’t Be the Holy Spirit.”

I have recently been reading Tim Challies’ book The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment with a group of friends so the things mentioned in this article by Mark Lauterbach have resonated with me.  There is much good food for thought here.

These are good words to take to heart. It’s easy to look at another brother/sister with a critical eye when they partake in something that we perceive as biblically unhealthy. I need to be mindful not to impose my rules on others and also remembering that if conviction / repentance is needed that is a work of the Holy Spirit.

    Liked this quote:

“I would not want to speak into someone else’s life every time I see something that looks inconsistent with Scripture. God is at work in them. I want to encourage their hunger for God and his word and let the Holy Spirit work. I want to get them into the Word and let God work. I do not want to get them into my church culture.”
