Why I Love Francis Schaeffer

7 Aug

Maybe its the knickerbockers with the long white socks.  Maybe its the goatee and the flowing white hair.  Perhaps its his memorable high-pitched voice.  Or maybe its his quirky but remarkable film series, How Should We Then Live?  Yes, something just makes me love Francis Schaeffer.  Though he has been dead for over 25 years, his books still challenge me.  His broad thinking about philosophy and the effects of worldview in our daily lives are still fresh and compelling.  Some of his best writing, I have found, are his Bible studies on various Old Testament books.

I saw a post by Dane Ortlund today that made me remember all the things I love about this great man of God.  I hope you will benefit from reading it, and check out Schaeffer’s complete works on amazon.com or christianbook.com (http://www.christianbook.com/the-complete-works-francis-schaeffer-volumes/francis-schaeffer/9780891073314/pd/53310?item_code=WW&netp_id=102227&event=ESRCG&view=details).  This five volume set is well worth your time.

Here’s the link to Ortlund’s article.
