If you are a Christian who was saved in the 70’s through the 90’s, you may remember a radio program called Nightsounds. A 30 minute radio program that normally aired around midnight, Nightsounds was a mainstay on many Christian radio stations for years. Bill Pearce was the host and his deep, rich voice was the perfect voice to listen to at the end of a long day. To this day, I can listen to a Nightsounds program and feel instantly relaxed. The music sometimes is a little bit cheesy, but the heart is in the right place. Even so, you’ll probably get a kick out of groups like the 16 Singing Men and some of the ladies who sing hymns in an operatic style. Its always a treat when Bill Pearce himself plays music on the show, as he was an accomplished trombone player. If all this sounds a little nostalgic and slightly strange, it is. The good news is, if you are living in 1988 like me, you can now listen to Nightsounds on the internet. Bill Pearce died in 2010, but old programs are still broadcast online and on over 300 radio stations across the country. Here’s the link if you are interested, or if you are ever having trouble falling asleep.
