Behold Your God — Week Seven, Day Five

14 Jul

All of life is worship. The Lord is here. He is present with me and in me. Therefore, the stuff of life is fuel for the fires of a heart of worship.

When I hear Siblelius’ symphony no. 2, I worship God.

When I embrace my children, I worship God.

When I see the end of a movie like The Color Purple or Lion and see resurrection and reconciliation, I worship God.

When I see the ocean, I worship God.

When I meditate on Isaiah 53, I worship God.

I have worshiped on the Blue Ridge Parkway and in a parking lot talking on the phone with a friend.

I have worshiped in a room at hospice and at the birth of a child.

I have worshiped reading the works of a person who has really known God.

I have worshiped in the whisper of a prayer of thanks in the middle of the day.

I have worshiped when I sleep and when I wake.

I have worshiped in song, whether singing all alone or with the people of God.

Every day, even in the worst of circumstances, affords opportunities for worship.

All of life is worship.

I encourage you to enter this day thinking about worship. Turn your mind and heart to praise and thanksgiving. You’ll be happier and more useful to God.
